The dromograph

A dromograph shows the sequence of footfall and records the time each leg maintains on the ground and is suspended in the air (leg lifted off the ground).

The dromograph considers the footfall of the hooves and measures the time each hoof stays on the ground as well as the time each hoof is in suspension. A horse has four legs, so it makes four strides and each stride represents a beat and the four beats determine a certain rhythm depending on each gait.
