Horseback Vacations in Arizona, United States

Arizona: "The Grand Canyon State"

Arizona is a state located in the southwestern United States.

Colonized by the Spanish, it became part of Mexico in 1821 when Mexico gained independence from Spain. In 1848, part of Arizona became American, and on February 14, 1912, it officially became a state of the United States.

Arizona is known as "The Grand Canyon State" because it is home to one of the most famous natural tourist attractions in the United States and the world.

Geographically, it stands out for its desert landscape and varied topography.

High mountains and plateaus cover more than half the state. In the north lies the Grand Canyon, carved over millions of years by the Colorado River.

It has a varied climate, although much of the state is considered desert with mild winters and very hot summers.

Due to its desert landscape, its vegetation is dominated by many species of cacti, such as the saguaro (the state flower), prickly pears, and yucca. However, the mountain ranges have forested areas, and Arizona is home to the largest Ponderosa pines in the world.

Arizona's wildlife is also diverse, ranging from desert lizards and snakes to deer, elk, and antelope in the northern mountains. There are also pumas, jaguars, coyotes, and brown bears.

Arizona is also known for having one of the best-preserved meteorite impact sites in the world. The Barringer Meteor Crater is nearly a mile (1.6 km) wide and 570 feet (170 m) deep.

Its capital is the cosmopolitan city of Phoenix, the third largest city in the U.S.

Feel Like a Cowboy in Arizona

Riding along desert trails, visiting the Colorado River through the Grand Canyon, the heart of this legendary land of men and horses, or simply spending a few days at a ranch is the best way to soak up the American spirit in just a few days.

In Arizona, the horse plays an important role; this is where the popular cowboy of the southern United States lives, and you are invited to spend a few days with him.

This area is known as the "Far West", and movies have shown it to us countless times.

Arizona is home to the Grand Canyon National Park and has more Native American reservations than any other state in the U.S.

In southern Arizona is the old town of Tombstone, a cowboy town where residents dress like cowboys from the last century and public transport is a horse-drawn carriage.

There are many guest ranches scattered throughout the state, mainly in the south and especially around Phoenix and Tucson. All offer riding for all levels and a wide range of non-riding activities, ideal for families.

Arizona can get very hot in summer, from June to August, so we recommend the best time for a ranch vacation is from September to May.
