Why tour Mozambique on horseback?
Mozambique is a country located in Southeast Africa with a fascinating history and a warm and tropical climate.
It is bordered by other six African countries and has 2,500 kilometres of impressive coasts on the warm Indian Ocean, perfect for a gallop on open beaches.
The area was explored by Vasco da Gama in 1498 and colonized by Portugal in 1505. It became independent in 1975, and became the People's Republic of Mozambique shortly thereafter.
Its capital, Maputo, located on a natural bay in the south of the country, was designed by the Portuguese to look like Lisbon.
Mozambique has bravely preserved itself from a very violent civil war and terrible floods, and it is now emerging from a ruinous past to become one of the coast jewels of Africa again.
The coast lined with palm trees is bathed by the warm waters of the Indian Ocean and decorated with long beaches of white sand, excellent coral reefs and chains of virgin islands. Just like a movie setting for riding!
Among the many conservation areas, we would like to mention Maputo Special Reserve, one of the few dune forests on earth. It is a sanctuary for elephants and other animals such as crocodiles, wildebeest, impalas and even lions.
Bazaruto Island
The idyllic Bazaruto archipelago, in front of the province of Inhambane, is one of the most popular tourist destinations of the country, and it has four main islands that form one of the most beautiful places in the continent.
The Quirimbas archipelago, in the north of the country, is a string of coral islands of 250 km. Here you can see whales, dolphins and turtles.
