Can I travel alone?
Yes, you can! You might want to join a group of riders or design your own group or simply ride alone. The riding holiday takes place regardless of the number of people booked which allows you to plan your holidays freely. We have special discounts for groups of 2, 4, 6 or more people.
What about my partner, if she/he doesn’t ride?
Ampascachi has different proposals. If you don’t want to ride or are a non-rider, you may accompany those engaging in equestrian activities.
The planned routes combine rural and traditional tourism and meeting points for sharing some activities. Riding holidays are not sold separately for companions, but together with equestrian activities.
A further choice at Ampascachi is to participate in holidays for beginners or novice riders where you may acquire riding skills and experience.
Can I travel with children?
At Ampascachi, you may organize a family riding holiday with children, who should always be accompanied by their parents or legal guardians.
Young children older than 16 may ride the equestrian routes accompanied by an adult.
Being in contact with nature, participating in campsites and rural activities and sharing time with horses are an enriching experience for children and adolescents.
Riders’ level of experience
Our riding holidays have been designed according to the riders’ experience.
At Ampascachi, we evaluate the riders’ skills according to the riding holidays chosen.
You may choose the horse you wish to ride, but you should follow tour guide´s advice as our horses are Peruvian Paso horses, bred, tamed and selected in our equestrian centres.
As a rider, you should be physically fit and in good health for the riding holiday chosen to be able to fully enjoy your holiday.
A further consideration is your experience in equestrian sports as well as your riding skills for these activities which turn more demanding as speed is increased when riding, as you ride over rough and variable ground and as ridings get longer.
The riders’ level of experience is classified in three groups:
• NOVICE RIDER: This includes that person who has never ridden before, but he or she is enthusiastic and willing to learn to ride and participate in a riding route.
• BEGINNER: Rider that is comfortable at a slow canter, but with certain difficulty. Able to saddle up and unsaddle without help.
• INTERMEDIATE RIDER: A rider at a steady canter, but that does not ride regularly. Confident and in control of the horse at any gait for long stretches.
• EXPERIENCED RIDER: A confident rider and in control at a fast canter.
Number of participants per group
The riding group is made up of people who are travelling together during a riding holiday. The group will be accompanied by at least one person from Ampascachi: the Host Guide. Remember that your riding holiday can be booked for a single person or for a group.
When you plan your riding holiday, contact us to obtain more information. If you are travelling alone, we may provide information about other people (upon their prior consent) so you contact them before you travel.
Riders’ physical condition
For equestrian tourism, the rider must be in good physical condition and your weight should not exceed 95 kilograms including riding wear. In case weight limit is exceeded, but the rider has a good physical condition, you may ride very light on the horse back and change mount regularly.
Our priority is the riders as well as the horses’ comfort; thus, during some routes, we may have regular breaks so horses can rest.
Please, do provide true information about your weight and physical condition when you book your holiday.
Types of Riding Holidays
At Ampascachi, we offer different riding holidays in accordance with the riders’ level of experience, places to visit, routes and even different equestrian experiences combined with traditional tourism.
Here you will find a detailed description of the riding holidays and make a search in accordance with your preferences. You may also design your holidays by combining destinations:
• Estancia: you can stay in the estancia and enjoy horse-riding tours, use the facilities, engage in activities such as playing golf, tennis and other sports, read a book under a tree or just enjoy the swimming pool in a natural and stunning surrounding.
• Training: this type of riding holiday has been designed for people that have never ridden before or have ridden sometime in the past and wish to learn more in order to feel safer and enjoy the rides. Our experts will teach you the practice and the theory to learn and enjoy equestrian tourism.
• Equestrian Route: in this type of riding holiday, we travel on horseback in Peruvian Paso horses through different places and routes. We stay in different types of accommodations; whether camps, estancias, country houses or first-class hotels, depending on the type of holiday chosen.
What should you pack?
Comfort is essential. When you book one of our riding holidays, we will provide you with a “What to Bring list” for your trip.
One of the most frequent questions is the type of footwear. We usually suggest trainers with a rubber sole; you may even use footwear for outdoor activities.
If you need to purchase any riding wear and accessories such as hats, boots and jodhpurs for your equestrian activities, we have an excellent range of equipment at Ampascachi. They have been designed for maximum comfort on long rides. You can order them prior to your trip and pick them upon arrival at Ampascachi.
Transfers and traveling tips
Please follow airlines recommendations regarding weight and items allowed to be carried in your baggage and carry-on baggage.
You may not exceed 20 kilograms since this is the maximum weight allowed in most airlines and in domestic flights in Argentina. You can carry your baggage in two separate suitcases that do not exceed 15 kg each for ease of handling.
Our Logistics staff will be in charge of carrying your baggage from the hotel and during the entire trip. You may leave your baggage in the equestrian centres, but Ampascachi will not be held responsible for it.
At Ampascachi, we offer laundry service in our equestrian centre Haras Ampascachi as well as in some of our accommodation at different locations. This service is not included in the price.
Ampascachi’s riding holidays are mainly performed in two Argentine regions, in the centre and north of the country. Landscapes as well as variable ground are way too different in both.
These regions have been chosen having into account the propitious weather during almost all the year for outdoor activities, the hotel infrastructure, cultural attractions and the diversity and beauty of landscapes. In the Province of Córdoba, there are hills, valleys and mountains, lakes and rivers whereas in Salta and Jujuy, landscapes are full of land colours and there are mountains and rivers which seem to merge with the Andes.
Contact information in case of emergencies
Along your riding holiday you will be together with our staff who have Access to satellite and mobile phones. In case of emergency your family can contact us and request these phone numbers to contact you. The number of calls received is restricted to two phone calls per day for each traveller.
At Ampascachi, physical activity may be intense; thus, good food and good rest are essential.
If you have a special condition for health reasons or of any other nature, please inform us when you book your holiday so we can assist you and provide you with the best attention.
Food and drinks
Food and drinks are included in our holidays.
Meals are healthy, balanced and natural and you will also be able to taste typical regional Argentine food.

Accommodation has been carefully chosen by Ampascachi’s team. In this sense, we have taken into account the facilities and customer service each type of accommodation offers since quality and excellence come first to us.
Most places offering accommodation are fully equipped. When booking, you may state your preferences and whether you are willing to share a room with other guests.
Ampascachi makes a great effort in offering top-notch professional equestrian trips and ensuring a high quality and customized service. In order to financially protect the money given to Ampascachi, Ampascachi relies on fully financially protected programs.
Ampascachi provides financial protection through a bank guarantee from La Caixa in favor of the customer for keeping his money safe at the time of buying and paying his/her trip or equestrian holiday. This protection applies to all Ampascachi’s customers no matter their country of origin.

We suggest you to check all activities you will be doing to ensure your coverage is adequate for this type of holiday. Likewise, please read insurance policy carefully and check at your insurance company for any queries.
You are responsible for making sure your insurance coverage will be covering you during the entire riding holiday. Ampascachi reserves the right to cancel your reservation if no adequate insurance has been contracted.
Safety when riding
Our horses have been bred, selected and gone through learning and training processes. These are magnificent, balanced horses ready for the riding activity. However, there are always variables in the equestrian activities; this is reason why we request you to provide true information about your experience as a rider and to follow instructions from the guide about saddling and approaching the horse.
Should you have any queries regarding your riding skills for the type of holiday chosen, feel free to contact us so we can clear up any doubts.
We recommend the use of the protective helmet provided by Ampascachi while riding.
