Let’s talk about horses and rides

Experience the desert on horseback! ! Horses and rides have played a key role here in the life of Rancho de los Caballeros since the beginning. Enjoy riding along desert trails with the help of their on-site wranglers.

  • Horse riding options available 7 days of the week.
  • The morning ride leaves the corral at 10 a.m. and lasts 2 hours.
  • The afternoon ride starts at 2:30 p.m., from Monday to Saturday and has a 90-minute duration.

Some programs you cannot miss

The Nature Ride: A specialized resident Naturalist will take you through cinematic desert landscapes in a ride to spot the animals and the flora of the region.

This three-hour ride runs during the season every Monday and Friday at 9:30 a.m.
Whether you’re an experienced or greenhorn rider, we offer an array of programs and rides for all skill levels. You can choose a walking ride or, if you are more experienced, you can practice cantering.

Day trips - Rancho los Caballeros

All-day rides: Available according to seasons, they feature a guided tour and lunch cookout and must be reserved in advance. Due to the duration of the ride we recommend that riders have a skill level of intermediate or higher.

Private rides: Available for families and ask the front desk for reservation bookings.

Riding lessons: Available as solo or group classes, the lessons are available at 1:00 p.m. every day except Sunday, and they can also be scheduled by appointment.

The lesson environment is ideal for:

  • Experienced riders who want to feel more comfortable when participating in more advanced galloping and looping rides.
  • Unskilled riders who want to feel more comfortable with horses in a more controlled environment.
  • Younger riders who want to make progress beyond our rides in pens and corrals, and join more skilled riders in trails.

Team penning: This thrilling game of team penning is perfect for families or business teams in coaching events. As a favourite bonding activity in Arizona, team penning involves working in small groups of horseback riders to navigate steers into a pen located at the arena's far end. Before the games begin, groups receive coaching from our expert wranglers to ensure safe, family-friendly fun and winners will get a prize.

Let’s talk about relax

The Spa at Los caballeros: We recommend enjoying this luxurious experience and treating yourself in this exclusive spa in the desert. Vigorous exercise has its advantages. Sweating after exploring the desert on horse or foot is good for your skin, but at the end of the day a relaxing massage feels wonderful.

A short walk from our main lodge, The Spa at Los Caballeros, is a really luxurious oasis of relaxation in the heart of the Sonoran Desert. Whether you choose specialized treatments such as Hassayampa hot stone massage, or more traditional therapies such as an enriching facial or pedicure, you will find your Zen and simply feel happy for having chosen this charming place.

The services available at the Arizona Spa Resort are:

  • Desert Baths
  • Desert scrubs
  • Desert Wraps
  • Facial and masks
  • Specialty massages

White Stallion Ranch

A fifty-year care of the land and an extraordinary guest service put this dude ranch at the forefront. The True family welcomes you to their home – this Resort for Horse Riding Holidays. When you see the ranch, you will truly feel as a guest at their home.

White Stallion Ranch - Arizona

White Stallion Ranch was originally built during the first decade of the 20th century and it started off as a cattle ranch. The original building was made of Mexican sun-dried brick. During its renovation, some wires and horseshoes were found. A small portion of the original wall is exhibited in the dining room, an original building of the ranch. Today, the ranch features 41 rooms and the Hacienda, a 5 bedroom house, to accommodate its guests.

Russell and Michael decided to keep the original buildings, which are still in use, and at the same time they added tennis courts, a movie theatre, a new swimming pool area including a jacuzzy and a patio for relaxation, lighted sports courts, spa and fitness centre.

They have one of the largest private herds of horses in Arizona and an important number of cattle.

Horse Riding Programs: Rides

White Stallion Ranch owns one of the largest private herds of horses in Arizona. Their extensive riding program accommodates the experienced horse owner, the “first-timer” rider and all riders in between.

White Stallion Ranch - Herd of their horses

Each guest is carefully matched with a specific horse for the duration of their stay, based on their experience, height, weight and riding ambitions.

They offer a wide choice of rides every day, except Sundays, which is always the horses’ day off. Programs were developed for adults and children.

  • Children 8 years and older may qualify for their fast rides, mountain rides and all day rides. All guides to the rides are expert on horses and children.
  • Children between 5 and 8 will enjoy the slow rides.
  • Children under 5 may experience the joy of riding while safe and comfortable on a lead guided by one of their specialized staff.

Mountain rides

What better way to explore the rugged Tucson Mountains than by horseback? Exciting and beautiful, their steep, rocky trails take you to the top of the surrounding mountains where the panoramic views are breath-taking.

Mountain Rides - White Stallion Ranch

Ride through Movie Pass surrounded by Saguaros, if it looks familiar, that’s because Hollywood has been filming here for over 50 years.

Choose from three different mountain rides to reach the summit, where you’ll take in the panoramic view of their 3,000 acre ranch and the miles of farmland beyond. The trails can be steep and rocky, but the horses are surefooted and adept at picking their way through the rocks.

All day rides

According to Russel True, “this could be the best ride of your life”. A really riding challenge.

This ride is a combination of loping and walking, you’ll be making contact with your saddle for almost 8 hours while covering 20 – 25 miles.

Lunch is served on the trail at a ramada in Saguaro National Park West. There is a bathroom break and plenty of water for the horses while you lunch.

Highlights of this ride include traveling through rugged canyons, sandy washes and seeing Native American petroglyphs.

There are many other options that you can’t miss. They combine adventure and pleasure, leisure and enjoyment, with someone special, with your family or friends, all together or solo activities. Clearly, there is a special proposal for each guest in this incredible Arizona’s Ranch.
